Types of Coverage

Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage plans provide both Part A and Part B coverage, including coverage for inpatient hospital care, lab tests, surgery, home healthcare, ambulatory services, treatment of medical conditions, and preventative services. These plans often include prescription drug coverage. Many plans also cover vision, hearing, and dental. Exact coverages and policies vary by plan.
Medicare Supplement
Medicare Supplement plans, also known as Medigap, help cover some of the healthcare costs not covered by Original Medicare (Part A/B), including copays, coinsurance, and deductibles. For these plans, you pay a monthly premium to a private insurance company in addition to your Part B premium that you pay to Medicare. Supplement plans do not cover long-term care, vision, hearing, or dental.

Medicare Part D
Part D provides prescription drug coverage. These plans are in addition to Original Medicare. Every Part D plan must offer the same base level of coverage but exact the prescription drugs covered by each plan differs. Costs for different prescription drugs also vary by plan, so it’s important to consider your existing prescriptions when choosing the right plan.
Final Expense
Final Expense plans help cover the costs your loved ones will be left with following your death, including medical bills and funeral expenses.

Dual Special Needs Plans (D/SNP)
Dual Special Needs Plans are for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid coverage. Exact coverage varies by state and the enrollee’s eligibility, therefore it is important to work with a knowledgable Medicare advisor to determine your coverage options through Dual Special Needs Plans.
Ancillary Products
Ancillary products offer coverage that your Medicare plan may not, such as dental, hearing, or vision. An ancillary vision plan, for example, can help cover the costs of eye appointments and eyeglasses.
